Dams and Reservoirs
Peter has worked on the design, construction and maintenance of around 20 reservoirs. These include construction of reservoirs in Devon, Leicestershire, Yorkshire and Derbyshire. Amongst these structures are some of the largest reservoirs built in the latter part of the 20th century, such as Roadford, Colliford, Grimwith, and Carsington. At Roadford Reservoir in Devon, in particular, Peter was responsible for major geotechnical elements including grout curtain design, devising a new method of assessing the foundation stability and assessed the stability of temporary large scale excavations requiring ground anchors. Peter was appointed to the supervising Engineer’s panel. His work has included assisting with the geotechnical elements of improvements to old structures, flood relief structures, fishing lakes and service reservoirs. Peter Cowsill Ltd. has been retained to undertake work on flood relief structures, fishing ponds, leisure lakes, canals and service reservoirs. Advice has also been sought with regard to remedial works of a large raised reservoir in the West Country. |
